Mr. McReynolds earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University in 1983. His early career included fourteen years as a semiconductor manufacturing and test engineer for a Fortune 100 company. John has owned and operated his own electrical contracting business and served his country as an electrical engineering contractor for the United States Department of Energy.
John started designing and engineering solar photovoltaic systems in 2009 for an international roofing manufacturer and was the engineer for one of the first ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) projects in the United States. As Director of Engineering for a midwestern EPC, John was the engineer-of-record for approximately 40 MW of solar farms, commercial and industrial rooftop installations, residential systems and custom stand-alone PV systems. John has taught solar classes to customers and co-workers. He has given solar presentations to college classes as well as high school and elementary school classes.
John became a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri in 1993 and has since added licensure in eight additional states: Kansas, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Louisiana, Nebraska, Oregon and Texas. Applications are in progress for Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado and New Mexico.
John is a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and is recognized as a Certified Solar Roofing Professional by RISE (Roof Integrated Solar Energy) of the National Roofing Contractors Association. He is currently pursuing the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with an electrical power emphasis from Kansas State University.
